Idris Elba surprises fans as he is announced to perform at Coachella as DJ... weeks after being named Sexiest Man Alive
And Idris Elba has added another notch to his musical belt, scoring a performance slot at the upcoming Coachella Music Festival.
The 46-year-old actor, who is People's current Sexiest Man Alive, will play the Saturday night dates headlined by Tame Impala, per the festival website.
This year's Coachella Music Festival will be spread across two weekends beginning on Friday, April 12 and concluding on Sunday, April 21.
The Friday nights will be headlined by Childish Gambino, the This Is America hitmaker and alter ego of actor and comedian Donald Glover.Other artists hitting the stage for the Coachella Fridays include Charlotte Gainsbourg, the daughter of Serge Gainsbourg and Jane Birkin.
Idris' fellow Saturday night performers include Solange, Kid Cudi, Wiz Khalifa and the French artist JAIN, whose 2016 song Makeba became an international sensation.
Meanwhile, the Sunday evenings will be headlined by Ariana Grande and will feature such names as H.E.R., Playboy Carti, Pusha T and Gucci Gang.
Idris' plum gigs as a DJ include the May wedding reception of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, now the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The upscale party held at Windsor Castle had James Corden for a Master Of Ceremonies and a star-studded guest list.

It was a beautiful experience, like all weddings are,' Idris told the Guardian, describing the grandson of the Queen as 'a friend of mine.'
Bar that much information: 'I try not to talk too much about it, because it was a private day, but it remains one of the highlights of my life, for sure.'
Coachella will not be the first music festival Idris has performed at as a DJ - he also previously plied his trade at England's Glastonbury festival.
